IPL stands for intense pulsed light. It uses high intensity light with wavelength range that targets the specific cells in the hair follicles. The light converts into heat energy that shrinks the hair follicles and ultimately leads to the reduction of hair.
IPL works for all except the darkest skin tone. Please refer to the chart on How To Use page to check the skin tone. IPL or Laser targets melanin content which is responsible for color. For dark skin type, IPL device cannot differentiate between skin and hair and can sometime target skin. That is why IPL is not recommended for darkest skin type.
IPL treatment relies on the melanin in the hair absorbing the light energy. Treatment is most effective on dark hair. It is not effective on very light, red, or grey colored hair.
It is absolutely safe and used by several people worldwide. We recommend you to follow the manual carefully before using it.
Usually IPL treatment takes 12 sessions but you can start seeing the results in 5-6 sessions. However, everyone will see the results at a different time since everyone’s skin tone, hair color, hair growth cycle and body’s reaction to IPL is different.
IPL does not hurt. However it feels like a slight flick by a rubber band which is way less compared the pain during the other hair removal methods.
No, you do not need to wear the eye protection. IPL handset will flash light only when it completely covers the skin. However, you shouldn't try to look at the light directly.
You can use it on any body part. Just do not use it anywhere near your eye.
During the treatment, you can shave. Do not wax or tweeze during the treatment as it can damage the upper layer of the skin. Basically there should not be any barrier between the skin and the handset.
